FCC Commissioner McDowell testifies at today's hearing.
Multi-Stakeholder Governance of the Internet is the Best Approach
Washington, D.C. (May 31, 2012) – Today we are attending the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology’s hearing on International Proposals to regulate the Internet.
During today’s testimony, FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell stated that an ITU takeover of Internet governance could lead to the imposition of technological content controls over apps.
The multi-stakeholder governance of the Internet is the best approach because it keeps apps free to innovate and provide content free of global censorship. We’ll continue to monitor this closely for Alliance members.
